If an employer needs to see this, whats the best way to show you're on track with graduating? Can you get a letter from the college or something? Also once we do finish and our grades are out, when do we get the actual certs? Is it only at graduation? This would be too late for me, is there a way to get proof without the official cert you get at graduation?

You can get a statement of results from the college (via SAA). You can get it on fancy coloured paper as well, though that's about a tenner. You get the actual cert/parchment only at graduation but as soon as your results are approved by academic council and uploaded, your statement of results will include your results and degree classification. Usually takes about three days after you order it, they'll send it to your home address or you can elect to pick it up directly. There are definitely forms in the pigeon holes outside SAA to apply for it, there should also be something inside the SI results system to order it as well. There's an associated cost even for the non-fancy version but it's a few quid. Under a fiver as far as I remember.

There's also an electronic system in place whereby particular registered employers can see your results if you allow them to do so. It's bolted on to the SI system but, while I remember it being introduced, I don't know any further details on which employers have signed up for it or how it works. Most people go the paper route.

Who would I ask to write a letter confirming I will be receiving my cert in August and that I've passed etc? SAA? I need it for an employer.

    http://www2.ul.ie/web/WWW/Services/Student_Affairs/Student_Administration/Student_Academic_Administration/Student%20Information/Requests%20-%20Letter,%20Transcripts,%20Recheck%20Forms,%20Change%20of%20Address

You just download and fill in whichever form you need, and then email it to SAA as an attachment. They'll post it out to you in a few days.
