I have been running four years. I do about 30k to 40k a week.
For the last two weeks I have found it very hard to get motivated
Im fine when I do get out, but prior to that Im over thinking the routes, making up silly reasons not to go out and putting it off until tomorrow.

Any advice on a mental boost or ways to freshen things up?

    Thanks

    BADTINE

You could try setting a new goal. Design a plan to get you there and try to ensure that the plan doesn't simply repeat what you have been doing.

You sound bored with the routine of the whole thing. Try something different to try break up the monontony. Track season starts soon. How about a few 800m or 1500m races at the Graded meets or at the BHAA meets? Or perhaps mountain running? Or maybe a triathlon?

Hehe... 4 letters that sprinters with their pansy ass "training" would know very little about ;)

an easy week once in a while does the body and mind no harm...

maybe see if you could get a training partner for a while or arrange to meet someone to go for a run with...

pick a race a few weeks away and follow a plan for it...this wil motivate you to go out as per the plan....

    try a few new routes...

sometimes i find it hard to get out the door and i'd be mooching about putting off the inevitable and the OH would ask if i was going out or not as he might have things to do and places to go.....and this prompt usually makes me get the gear on and out.

    Thanks for the advice

Change of routine sounds like the plan with a race
    as the end goal.

Have done Triathlons but I cant stand the bike
    training.

Had to look up "HTFU" macho I must dig up my eye
    of the tiger tape.
