How to feed Irish TV to PJ, no STB, no SKY & no Saorsat

Thinking of buying a PJ and wondering how to get RTE/TV3/TG4 digital to work with it. I have a digital TV so don't need a STB, have just bought a Blue-Ray player, so don't want to turn around and buy a digital DVD/Blu-Ray recorder just for the tuner.

    Thanks.

Unless your TV has video outs that you can feed to your projector , then yes you do need an STB.

The tuner in your TV is just for your TV. The Tuner in an STB is for whatever you attach it too.

If your projector is a HD model , and you want decent digital picture quality , then a saorview box is a cheap high quality option for your projector for the stations mentioned. High quality digital video outputs on TV's are as rare as hens teeth.

The best your TV could probably output would be SD over scart if that was even an option , which wouldnt be great.

It says usb on the front of the unit. Not on the spec. Have a close look.

What do you need usb for?

    =PVR

Just got back to this thread, my pc has HDMI out, so maybe a combined SAT/DTT card, this would also suit in terms of reaonable closeness to PJ, about 3 meteres.

I think you are implying, that I won't have any sound output at PC sound-card if I use HDMI out from PC.

As I need a HD Sat receiver maybe this "Ferguson Arriva 120 Combo HD" would be a simpler and quieter way (PC noise) to go.

it appeared from your earlier posts that your screen, tv and other gear was in a different point to the pc, maybe that is wrong of me to assume, but if that is the case your sound will be coming from a different direction . you can take the sound out of the pc separate to the hdmi, via soundcard for example, but i was just making sure you had considered the sound implications, many forget them when starting out with a projector

Yeah, I hadn't thought about sound went to check the PJ I intend to get and it has no sound ouput.

Not importat, but do any PJ's have sound ouput?

TV, PC are in one room, PJ and BluRay will be in adjoining room, no distance, just 3Mtrs cable run, and a block wall.

Was even playing with the idea of mounting the PJ at the other side of wall and beaming it through a cutout in the block wall. Real old fashioned cinema effect and less noise. Problem might arise with remote not connecting.

Where do PJ's have their remote sensor mounted? Thinking this Optoma HD230X
