Hi folks! Will the Skype app work on the Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000? I downloaded app and it just reads "Skype can only be used on Telkomsel".

    Help!

Telkomsel is an Indonesian network, according to some Googling. You must have downloaded a network-specific version. Download the generic Skype app which should be at the top of this list.

    Yes it does work.

I also use the network specific version for Three.

"Download the generic Skype app which should be at the top of this list."

Ok I did that and it still won't work? The accessibility app is not activated and won't respond when I try? Maybe this is the problem? May need to upgrade from android 2.1 to a newer version too?

This phone was given to me free as my friend got a new model. So I don't have a manual. Getting conflicting info on the net.

    Help! :)

Are you getting it from the Play (Android) market?

Yep I got it from the Android market and still wont work! Perhaps this accessibility app has something to do with it? Can't seem to activate it? :(

Once you signed into the play store on you browser it should sync with your phone. (assuming you've created your own account on it since receiving it from your friend)

When you clicked on the play link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skype.raider&feature=search_result it should tell you on the left handside whether or not it's availalble for your phone.

I used to have a Galaxy S and it's telling me that the above version of Skype is compatible with it. Although I'm not too sure if that's recognising the firmware it had in it. I used CM7 and was upgraded to 2.3.7 as opposed to the 2.1 on yours.

It should definately be avail for 2.2. So if you download Kies and synch it with your phone, it should upgrade to 2.2.

That is assuming if the reason why it doesnt work is due to your firmware.
