Ward Anderson reopened the former UCI cinema in Tallaght today, now an IMC.

Two cinema openings in the space of just over a fortnight, its been a while since that happened!

    :(

Good memories of Tallaght UCI: mostly getting chased through the Dublin mountains by a load of joyriders after Fast and Furious, surrounded by burned out cars. Good times.

it's great to see cinemas actually reopening.

the local on a few mintues extra drive seems to be under
    the cosh audience wise.

    i just hope they'll continue.

    :(

Has anybody been in this IMC? Is it good? I usually go to Vue. Wondering if this theatre is better in quality?

I wasn't too keen on the IMC when I was there. I saw The Avengers in one of the smaller screens (I presumed it was being shown in their bigger screen only). The room was jam packed with seats, there was a lot less leg space than I'm used to. The screen itself wasn't too big and I was pushed to the far wall, so it wasn't the best experience. I'd say the cinema was near capacity too, so they seem to be getting a lot of business. The place is really clean and fresh - we weren't sure if they would refurbish the cinema when it re-opened (which they did), or if they would just keep the old decor.

Also they put melted butter over your popcorn, which has a lot of people jumping for joy.

Thanks Notorious, just going to go to Vue then. I want a big screen.

Whats the seating like? Have they changed it from when it was UCI? It was far too flat then.

Since Dundrum opened I've tried to stick with going there. Always been happy with it and dont have to be worrying about the chance of coming back to a car with a broken window like in Liffey Valley (it's happened to far too many people I know and their friends/family I dont for me to be comfotable with).

    Dundrum is superior, no question.
I've been to Tallaght twice. Like an earlier poster, I expected to be watching Avengers in a large screen (especially on the opening day), it was small and packed and there wasn't much leg room.
The seating is tiered better, so your view isn't going to be blocked.
There's no question it's better laid out and has a good clean look (so far).

I really would have preferred it if they went with 6/7 Large Screens rather than 13 small screens (I've only been in Screen 1 & 7, both were small), maybe 12 and/or 13 are bigger.

UCI Tallaght used to do the best cinema nachos in Dublin!

the screens are small and the layout is weird.

went to see AVENGERS in screen one and you come into the place half way down the room.

mind you im used to liffy valley and their screens are enormous.

still have to say its a hell of alot cheaper and i near passed out with joy when i got the option of butter on the popcorn. did think it was strange they "sealed" it in the box but i presume thats to prevent spillage.

havent tried the natchos yet so will have to next time.

the seating is better than i remember though both in terms of comfort and the view .

i must say though that it is kinda intimidating looking and finding the jax was a bit of an effort as the signs arent exactly jumping out at ya.

still all in all if im gonna see a 3D film again ill probably do it here as they dont charge you as much if you've kept the first set of glasses you bought and the screens do seem to play it better.

cant be bad for joe public either to have more competition as vue had cornered the market in the area.
