Harrington will be trying to build on his good showing at the Masters. Other Europeans in the field include Karlsson, Donald, Stenson & Olazabal.

Snedeker is the defending champion. Matt Kuchar is a man in form and at 16/1 is my selection.

Donald should be very close, course sets up perfectly for him.

I'm taking Furyk to get back into the groove with a win.

If Harrington's iron play is as good as last week he could contend, really a premium on accuracy on this track. Just needs to keep it on the fairway and hope a few more putts drop.

Think I'l give Charlie Wi a go in this one. 100/1 and playing well in recent times. Harrington not doing too good nor too bad at +2. It's tight course so will have to see how it pans out over the week

    Edit: finished +3 (74)

Luke has to finish top 8 or the Mac takes #1 spot again, donald is +4 in round 1

Does anyone know of a good article/website that would explain the ranking system to a numpty like me? I really don't understand it.

Basically you get points for wherever you finish in an event and the ranking is your total points over a rolling two years (I think ?) divided by the number of events you played in. ie your points average.

Its slightly more complicated than that but thats the bones of it. I think the points scored in the first of the two years are halved when they are older than one year.

Thanks Russman, it was the 'average points' part I wasn't aware of. I couldn't understand how Donald could play when McIlroy wasn't and still drop a place.

One way that a player can go up the ranking when he doesn't play is if the person ahead of him had won a tournament exactly 2 years previous and scored a lot of points. When that tournament win becomes 2 years and 1 day old they lose all those points and may drop below the person ranked behind them, even though the person ranked behind them didn't play.

I'm sorry but anyone tipping Kuchar needs to have their head checked and at those prices, needs a lobotomy.

His win ratio is astonishingly poor, from memory, he won a fed ex tourney a couple of years ago when Laird three putted from 25 feet.

He's won basically nothing else. He bottles it every single time when it comes down the stretch. Top 5 maybe, but dont ever back Kuchar to win. Ever.

That's not strictly correct at all. What you've described is more similar to the way the Tennis rankings work although Tennis only has a rolling 1 year period.

The Golf rankings have a rolling 2 year (104 week) term. The points a player earns in a given week are retained by him in full for only 13 weeks. After that, they are reduced by a factor of 1/91 every week until they are completely gone after exactly 2 years. Therefore if a player won a Major 23 months ago, the effect on his ranking today of that win would be almost negligible.

No need for the arrogance but good man anyway. He made the cut although 8 shots back.

I think this is Harro's first missed cut on the PGA tour this season.

i backed him in the masters @66/1 and 60/1 but didn't do him this week,
fact is the prices in the regular events are pretty poor, but coming on here slagging people off for backing him is a load of ...... imo

Great to see 2 belly busters bouncing around at the top of the table

Carl Pettersson takes a one shot lead in to the final round.

It's absolutely nothing to do with the poster. Sure kuch has form, but if you follow golf closely, you'll know all about kuch, how often he is around and how he always crumbles.

I have lost plenty of dollar on kuchar, trust me, but it took me a while to work out that the cheesy smile is actually pure fear going down the stretch.

I still reckon he'll win 1 this year

    good luck with Kuch!

I'll take Chris stroud to win one.....(at probably 150/1)......

Agree that Kuchar will win one soon.

Back to topic, Carl Pettersson captured his 5th PGA Tour title last night.
