    Hi guys

Has anyone here interviewed with Baker Tilly? Know anyone who's worked there? Any idea of starting salary and study leave for ACCA? Trying to get a feel of what the firm is like. They look great on paper. I've recently (successfully) interviewed with a big 4 but I'd imagine each firm has their own interview style, but there doesn't seem to be the same body of info on interview processes for firms outside the big 4, for obvious reasons.

PM me if you like. Would appreciate it.

    Thanks

I interviewed and was successful. I turned the position down due to poor study leave. Also very poor questions been asked by partner at final interview left me pondering if I wanted to work there , turned them down.

hmmm interesting, appreciate your input. Did any psychometric testing form part of the process or was it 1 interview with HR then a second with a partner?

I interviewed with them in the first round of interviews.

I put a huge amount of effort into it and felt the interview went really well but didn't get recalled for the 2nd round, which is fair enough, no problem.

However, I requested an email (twice) to confirm the time and date of the interview but received none. More importantly I got no feedback even though I specifically requested it. Feedback should a matter of course and common courtesy for unsuccessful candidates.

Ended up being a very negative experience for me. It made me question if the 'culture of sharing' really is prevalent within the practice or if it was all just propaganda.

I asked about the interview process and indeed 1 interview with HR then a second with both the partner and director. I also believe a competency case study was to be completed

Thanks for the response. I actually had the same issue in that they said they'd send me a confirmation email but never did. Not to worry. I had a very positive experience with them in them end, I think they would be a good fit for me, so I am hopeful of a second interview.

    Good luck :)

I was told the places were very competitive and that I would be called back in 2 weeks but it ended up being a lot quicker than that,
Moral of the story, the longer it takes them to get in touch the better :)

BTW, I was rejected over email which I thought was really harsh
Is this a normal way for HR to contact someone after an interview ?

I'd say that's pretty normal when they interview a large number of people. I would expect a call however if I got rejected after a second interview.

Sorry but I don't see the logic here... if you get an offer to play in the premier league, why go after a position in the second division??? At the end of the day having a big 4 name on your resume will get you attention, you will not otherwise get....

Not at all, any firm that chooses to do so is exposing themselves to potential litigation from a disgruntled candidate, so at the very best all you can expect is a very sanitized version of their decision making process....

Yeah that's true but there's other circumstances at play in my situation.

Well obviously you need to do what you feel is right for you, but I would doubt that you will find much difference between one firm or another in terms of stress level, long hours etc... Money, leave, amount of travel, breath of work, yes... but the rest no so much..

Technical test is just general ledger accounts, the questions were strange to say the least and turned me off ever joining.

Partner asked me what was my biggest regret in my life ?

I felt like saying sitting here !
