The HP has the much faster processor (6 MB L3 Cache, PassMark score 6807, the ASUS i7 only has 4 MB L3 and scores 4075 on Passmark).

The HP's 17" display is a plus for video editing, which is no fun on a 14" display.

Neither of them has a discrete graphics adapter. If you're working with Adobe Premiere, you should consider a NVIDIA GPU with CUDA.

But if it is just down to the two of them then the HP is a no brainer. Will it last 5 years? This first and foremost depends on how it is being treated. ;)

Over at komplett, there is a 17" ASUS with the same i7 used in the HP and a Geforce GT 520M (certainly not a killer GPU but it does feature CUDA) for €769.
