Help picking a laptop

My mother is in American atm and said she'd pick one up for me if I gave her the money but I need some responses quickly.
I want to use my new laptop for video editing and hope to have it last for around 5 years.
I'm drawn towards the asus but I do like the screen size of the hp.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated many thanks.

The HP has the much faster processor (6 MB L3 Cache, PassMark score 6807, the ASUS i7 only has 4 MB L3 and scores 4075 on Passmark).

The HP's 17" display is a plus for video editing, which is no fun on a 14" display.

Neither of them has a discrete graphics adapter. If you're working with Adobe Premiere, you should consider a NVIDIA GPU with CUDA.

But if it is just down to the two of them then the HP is a no brainer. Will it last 5 years? This first and foremost depends on how it is being treated.

Over at komplett, there is a 17" ASUS with the same i7 used in the HP and a Geforce GT 520M (certainly not a killer GPU but it does feature CUDA) for €769.
