First off fair play to them for standing their ground against the County Board in relation to players being expected to play club games three days before 3A final. They have already pulled out of the league final and now it looks like they will pull out of the Nicky Rackard Cup as well.

I wonder what the GPA are/have done? They were very fast to come out when Cork and Limerick went on strike but lets see what happens when its Monaghan a team they really should be looking out for.

Big difference is that the county board called the players out on it - I'm that the players presumed that the county board would cave on the fixtures. GPA were involved very fast, the statement the players issued on Monday was made through the GPA. There is probably a lot of talking behind the scenes that we would not be privy to

I hope that Central Council comes down like a tonne of bricks on the Monaghan board for not sticking with the original agreement. Fair play to the players for taking a stance behind their manager in this regard - putting games on three days before a national final is madness!

The GPA were aware from the outset about the probelm and were fairly proactive apparently.
Hope the County Board get a fine smack on the knuckles.

I cant see why this has come to such a problem. Wexford are playing games the weekend of their league final with Longford. Games were altered so that players werent playing on the day of the final, but it just took a bit of rearranging so there wasnt a clash.
