    Hi Guys,

I'm building a hardware system for a project I'm involved in.

I'll be recording data using a laptop. I'd like something light and powerful.

I'll also need a docking station. My budget is about €1000.

I'm considering Lenovo. Can anyone recommend a particular model?

    Thanks,
    M

"Powerful" plus docking station from Lenovo for 1000 yoyos? Not in your wildest dreams. ;)

Cheapest Thinkpad T with a Core i3, 2 GB RAM and Minidock costs more than €1100.

Wow - hadn't thought an i3 would cost over €1000 euro!

    Any good dell alternatives?

Well, it's €870 plus €250 for the Minidock, The cheapest Thinkpad T or X series with a Core i7 (which I suppose you mean by powerful), start selling from around €1,100... without a dock.

Same here, the docking requirement makes it expensive, because you'll have to buy a business class laptop. And Core i7 Latitude laptops cost serious money, never mind the Precision series of mobile workstations.

Having said that, you'll have no problem, to find a very powerful laptop for less than €1,000 Euro, if you scratch the dock.

    Thanks for the info.

Yea, I'd be willing to forget about the docking station.

Anyone got any opinions on these: http://www.dell.com/ie/business/p/xps-13-l321x/pd.aspx?c=ie&cs=iebsdt1&l=en&s=bsd&~ck=mn

They look very nice indeed, but you'll have to pay a fat premium for the good looks. :D

The "powerful" model costs 1300 yoyos. ;)

At komplett, they have a nice 15.6" Sammy with a 2nd Intel Core i7-2670QM and GT 610M for €729
