Signing off for work experience

I'm on the jobseekers allowance and have been offered a great opportunity to do some unpaid work experience which could potentially improve my chances of finding a job. Its for 4 weeks in another county. Ive been told that since its not a job bridge program I will have to sign off for the time its running.

That was a disappointing surprise but if its what has to be done so be it. I'm just concerned that it will be difficult to sign back on once I'm finished. Its hard enough going without any income for a month while staying in another county, but I seriously could not afford to have to wait a few more months to start receiving payments again. Does anyone know how long it takes?
