Do you mean a medical procedure or a social programme?

    Sorry. Yes a medical procedure.

Do you have or are you entitled to a medical card?

Through the public system, most charges are absorbed.

It depends what it is, Your community welfare officer (cwo) is a good start, I really doubt it will be make a payment to private healthcare service if its to avoid a wait and if you can get it done here then they will not send you abroad, but if you can bring in your proof of income and anything proving expenditure oh and a doctors letter proving the need for this and show that you do not have the funds to pay for this operation and its urgent you might be entitled to a once off payment at the discretion of the officer but ive never heard of it. You might just be able to get something if it is an exceptional need maybe?
You may be told to apply for a medical card and wait, I have heard of a lot of people fundraising for private/urgent operations and to travel abroad before so it may be something cwo cannot provide for. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Would health insurance be an option? To take out a policy and go that way? At the moment, the cause is a serious burden on the quality of life and health.

Didn't think they covered pre existing conditions fully I dunno I just thought that if you don't have health insurance you can't just sign up after you find out you need an operation then wouldn't everyone without HI basically do that when they need an op?
