I was up near kippure on sunday morning and what i think was a tri bike went by me the opposite direction with a deep front rim and solid rear wheel but it was the coolest sounding bike ever :D

Carbon wheels sound the bollox, most people with them could easily shed 5-10kg too, and given that would make them way faster than the carbon wheels do, you have to think the cool sound is the major selling point.

Tri/TT bikes aren't supposed to be light. They're more for cutting the air and lots and lots of power. A triathlete losing weight may compromise their power to weight ratio and be counter productive.

I am more talking about the number of Fat Mamils spending thousands on carbon wheels when a much cheaper and more effective way of getting faster would be to lay off the pies, you can see plenty of them round NCD of a weekend.
