Was looking through this months Maplins catalogue and see that they are selling an analogue portable tv.
Dont think anyone in their right mind would buy one.

No, unless they could use it as a descent monitor for something else I suppose.

analgoue tv, great for old gaming consoles such as the xbox 1 and playstation 2, gamecube and wii. Also people with large libraries of old vhs video recordings will prefer analgoue tvs.

All those work fine on our Digital TV.
No-one should be selling Analogue TVs.
For Consoles and VHS the SCART is superior to aerial socket. Just make sure any Digital TV has SCART or a SCART cable option.

I have an old sega mega drive out in the garage that still works. I think it only has an analogue RF connection. So certain old electronics will need an analogue tuner of some form or another to work.

Only the really old games consoles (pre mid 80s) are limited to RF connections (and even then it's likely most can be modded for composite, s-video or RGB scart, which I would highly recommend doing as RF connections are poor in comparison). The mega drive you mentioned outputs RGB scart naively, no modding required - but they only shipped with the RF cable, so you'd need to buy the better quality cable (still available to buy on ebay and retro gaming stores).

To be honest, there are very, very few things that I can think of which are completely dependent on RF connections. All new digital televisions that I've come across have retained an analogue tuner as well, so anything that does rely on RF can still be used.

Good to know that in case i get all nostalgic and try to connect it up when they start selling tvs without analogue tuners down the line.
