meteor broadband to go ....HELP !!!!

    have acer laptop with windows 7. dongle has been working fine since christmas.
    all of a sudden it wont connect.the connect icon remains grey.tried re installing.tried removing sim etc.

    then i tried it on my brothers acer laptop running vista.....IT WORKS FINE!

    why wont it work on my laptop anymore?

    Setup a second user account on your machine and install the dongle & software on it. Go to you network connections and take note of the adapter settings. Go back to your original account and enter those adapter settings. reboot the machine.

    I'm new to boards so apologies if I'm in the wrong place.

    I bought a Huawei E173u-2 pay as you go meteor broadband to go modem from carphone warehouse last week. Have installed a couple of times now on Windows 7 (used ccleaner to get rid of all reg entries) and it won't connect at all just comes up with 'no service' beside connection button. My phone is meteor bill pay and the internet works really well on it since I recently moved to the sticks (which is why I went with meteor broadband) I've put the sim card from the phone into the dongle and it works just fine but I cannot seem to make it work with the sim it came with. Have brought it back, with the laptop, to carphone warehouse and they didn't have a clue either. Anyone any ideas?

    I've never been a fan of the overly expensive eircom conglomerate but I'm seriously close to installing a landline and paying their highly inflated prices!! Though I'm sure if I could get the meteor working it would probably be just as fast as eircom where I am for half the price. Please help :-( thank you

    Try this...

    1. Unplug modem
    2. Uninstall meteor broadband from add/remove programmes (programmes and features)
    3. Uninstall Huawei modem
    4. Install ccleaner and run it to delete all temp files etc (dont bother with the registry section of this cleaner)
    5. Reboot computer
    6. Pause anitvirus for a few moments (Just while you plug in modem and let it install)
    7. Plug in modem and install it
    8. Once its finished installing, how is it now?
