DIY Bike Lights

A wee bit bored today so I was looking for good lights for my MTB commuter. Some look great, such as the Lezyne Super/Power Drive's but they are fairly expensive so it got me thinking. Surely the premium for these lights are not necessarily the brightness but more like the size/weight to brightness ratio.

So if I wasn't looking for the smallest brightest light, what else could I get?

    So thought of buying these:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-DC-12V-6800mah-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Battery-Pack-/260977272707?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_Batteries_SM&hash=item3cc3752783

According to my beer mat maths, I should get nearly 9 hours out of that battery before it needs recharging according to the advertised specs and the battery itself shold fit in a saddle bag or water bottle. Price wise I should get around 100 more lumens than the Lezyne Super Drive for around half the price. I'll put a waterproof switch in there somewhere also.

So can anyone see any downsides besides it being a bit ugly and the beam possibly being a bit narrow?
