Just wondering.. Can externally repeat student apply and receive a j1 visa? Like I could easily prove my intentions to return and complete my course.. Just not sure if I count as a full time student or not. But I still have student card and can use all student facilities.

You'll need to get the form stamped at the registrations office so I presume you'll have to be enrolled. How long since have you graduated? If I were you, I'd advise against going on a J1, its very expensive and a lot of people I've spoken too never made much money back. Perhaps you should consider the J one year working visa. The economy over there is not great at the moment but I hear its not so bad around the Gulf States.

i forgot to mention you're now restricted to the jobs you can apply for becuase of the recession. Jobs such as construction are now off limits for J 1ers and many others which you will find on the website.

Going to Chicago with a few friends. Just wondering, what dates are you guys planning on leaving? Says on the NUIM website that examinations will start "not before the 10th of May". Am I right in saying that exam periods usually last two weeks?

Just trying to figure out when our exams will finish so that we don't end up booking a flight and then having an exam to do on the same day!

May I suggest in the delights of south east asia, perhaps a trip to kan koon or ko pan yang?

Hey, I've booked the J1 with USIT at the end of November last year. Paperwork is still being processed but should be done soon so ye're probably better off doing it as soon as possible as.

I'll be heading out to New York on May 23rd. I'll be flying solo so if there's any more of ye looking to go to NYC, it'd be good to meet up, share accommodation and save a bit more money!

I haven't graduated as I said I'm repeating my exams. I had 2 exams in NUIM last week and two more in may. Ill be back in September in 3rd year to finish my 4 year course.. I just want to know if external repeat students can go on a j1 because technically I'm still a student have student card and can use library gym get discounts etc.. I'm not going there to make money I have a job so moneys not a problem.. And I've a lot of experience in recognisable 5* hotels so hotels over there should be interested and I've a contact in Berkeley.

Does anyone know if there's any way that a deferred student could qualify for a J1 or similar?
