    Hi Folks,

    Trying to organise a holiday for my parents in law! First sun holiday! :) The problem is that the mother-in-law has a bad hip and can't manage any hills and also father-in-law is not a mad fan of flying! Has anyone any recommendations of nice destinations not too hilly and not over a 4 hour flight away?

    Thanks! :D

    The Algarve perhaps? We went to Lagos and I don't remember any hills there to get to the beach or the town.

    Malta is popular with older people I think too.

    Try Duquesa in spain, less than an hour from Malaga airport and we stayed in the Marina Real apartments, all on the flat and less than a 5 minute walk to the Marina where all the restaurants are, plus the apartments are on the beach.

    Yes, The Algarve! The Four Seasons Quinta do Lago, or that general area. Nice small fishing towns nearby, plenty to do at the resort (or other ones). Too hot from mid-July to end of August. There is another resort just across the road, you'll find it on google etc. Sorry, can't recall name. The benefit of a resort like this/these, is that the hotel has activites and can organise trips for them. Taxis are cheap.

    BUT

    my top choice for the holiday you describe/seek is something like this;

    This is a great destination, beautiful with beautiful weather and beaches

    Puerto Pollensa (Port de Pollenca) in Majorca might be a good bet. On the flat, bustling but not too big, couple of nice hotels in the middle of town and still close to the beach. Roughly 2.5 hours flight to Palma, then a 30 minute transfer by bus. Also a handy bus ride (10 mins) to the old town of Alcudia (which is really nice).

    It's the sort of spot I'd recommend to my mum or to my parents-in-law.

    Lagos is nice, and IIRC not hilly. But you do have to be careful with the Algarve. Some of the resorts have hotels set back quite a distance from the beach, and some of them have awkward hills as well.

    I've never met anyone with a bad word to say about Malta. Good call IMO.
