Which terminals do I use in the control box? Should the internal sounder operate before the external sounder kicks in, or is it simply connected to bell+/- ?

Connect it in with the strobe in the control panel.

If its on a newer panel you should connect the negetive to a dedicated output programmed as strobe - .
Internal bells on newer systems will cut after 15 minutes. You want the strobe to continue after that.

No outputs to program on the Melcom ST6000.
If it was a newer panel then the correct output programming should be internal bell.

What's the strobe output for then???
You said in the last post connect it in with the strobe?

To clarify , the correct connections on a new panel should be
    Bell - to Bell output
Internal - to internal bell -
Strobe to dedicated output programmed as strobe -

There is no need for the strobe to cut out with the internal bell.

Yes, that is correct as there is no other output to connect it too.

The strobe output is to keep the strobe going till you enter your code.
Internal bell output cuts out after a pre-programmed time regardless of a code being entered.
Max 15 minutes on new alarm systems.
