SATA or IDE

    Hey, not sure if anyone can help me. Ive got a multimedia hard drive thats broke on me, so I want to buy an enclosure today on ebay. I havnt got the drive with me to check, but would anyone know off hand are MMHD's in general SATA or IDE or are they all different??

    What size is it ,less than 3.5 inch its likely to be sata,likely to be sata if its less than 6 years old,ITS LIKELY to be sata drive,why dont you open the case ,you,ll have to open it if you are going to transfer it to a caddy anyway.
    Google sata ide image search to check the interface type.
    whats the model no, eg sony lx540.

    Hi,
    Yeah its just im in work today and would have liked to order it then it would probably be here for the weekend and I just thought maybe they are all the same. Its about 3 years old, and iOmega. I will just wait and check it tonight to be on the safe side. Thanks.

    A 3 yr old Iomega multimedia hard drive is most certainly a SATA HDD.
