We are currently using O2 as our "mobile broadband" provider in the Baltinglass area of West Wicklow. If you call 0.2mbs broadband. We now know that the problem is contention. If we connect during the day time speeds are that slow & slower, but at 2am the speed is acceptable, so the problem must be contention. We have now had enough of this crap service, and are looking to switch provider. Has anybody ot there got any knowledge of using 3 in the West Wicklow area. Our house has a number of different devices, laptops, desktop, tablets & wifi phones. So can anybody advise if the 3 mobile boradband using the Huawei E586 is suitable?

3 would most likely give you exactly the same problems as o2 at some stage. Mobile midband can never be classified as broadband...it's more like boratband.

Someone already suggested Wicklow Broadband so I'd check them out and see what they can offer.

We're in Hollywood on the side of a hill. The only successful way to get internet is through the NBS.Satellite broadband is the only way.Forget mobile in this neck of the woods.
The biggest drawback is definitely the allowance 11GB per month (€20) on a 'roll over' basis (whatever that is!).We have to constantly buy extra 'tokens' at €5 per GB!!! Very expensive. What to do!!!!!
They dont even have any packages available for heavy use,so, there are no options. We had mobile broadband from Ripple and NBS.No use.Poor speeds and very unreliable.
Also in the last 6/8 months ive noticed the allowance being gobbled up twice as quickly. This is because of many changes to (for example) FB,where videos automatically start downloading whether you like it or not. Also constant updates for allsorts of apps are happening without you even being aware of it, and this really eats up data. The whole internet thing becomes more and more expensive as time goes by...so start saving....:)
