    Hello !

I just joined the forum and it's nice to be here. I was wondering if someone could post some ideas or thoughts that would help with my situation, wich is:
Two and a half month ago i joined the Barnsley College Rugby team, with no prior knowledge of this game, and due to the fact that in the past few weeks the minimum number of players for practice was'nt beeing met the management decided to shut down the team ( the fitness class remained the same ). Anyway I've come to enjoy and love this sport and would like to continue doing it, idealy on a proffessional level, and this is the part where i genuinely don't know what to do. I'm 23 years old, 1.93 m height , 92 KG and in fit conditions. I know I'm a newbie but I want to grow in this sport so I would apreciate very much your helpful opinions and ideas.

    Thank you !

That's quite an ambition. I'd start right at the bottom and work your way up. J4/2 rugby. There's a guy who played for us new to the sport, and by the end of the season he was easily J1 standard. If you're a naturally athletic and sporty guy you could pick it up quickly. All the way to pro level would be very unusual though.

What's your background and what position are you thinking of playing?

    Edit: Welcome, btw!

To be very blunt you haven't a hope of playing pro rugby if you're starting out at 23, sorry to burst the bubble!

Low division AIL might be a more realistic target but that sort of depends on the club you're playing for

Even J1 is to a very high standard these days

Didn't Tom Court only start in his mid twenties?

    23 to be exact.

@ OP, you need to get involved with an ambitious team to help with your ambitions. Work hard at all facets of your game, and don't be frustrated if it takes 2-3 years to get "noticed". Head down and get playing as often as possible.
