Hi just wondering would it be easier/cheaper to travel one way to Berlin by train or to fly?

Anyone have any experience of travelling this route?

Easyjet go from AMS to Berlin direct for around €50 one way if you book a couple months in advance. The train is around the same (probably within €10 each way) but 5hrs longer.

Depending on how far in advance you're booking you can get a one way fare for about €45 and it takes about 6 hours, city center to city center. Check out www.db.de

I cant specifically remember what I paid for my train, but good lord, if you are getting a train early in the morning from Amsterdam with a hangover to Berlin via train it is quite bad. 8+ hours of travel is not fun.

I've booked cross-border journeys on the Dutch railways site (not the Berlin route) and you can print your tickets at home, have them posted to you or collect them at any Dutch station.

    Journey time approx 6.5hrs

In my experience, it's easier to begin intercity journeys at Schipol airport as opposed to Amsterdam Centraal - less chopping and changing of platforms, better signage and staff more readily available to answer queries.
