its made by CYMA, but i will be putting a real wood kit on it as its plastic now, but once i have that done, i was thinking of wood staining it, but after that, i was wondering what would be the best way to make it look more authentic, thanks

Get some metal pot scrubs and give the gun a good rub. It will give a more weathered look to the painted sections.

...Use it. It'll get banged up and "authentic" looking over time. Most DIY ageing jobs are shit

Get some talcum powder and cover your hands with it. Then play around with the AK as if operating it & doing various operator-y things with it. Then see where the talc has landed; these will be the areas most 'rubbed' besides the obvious raised areas.

    Sand/scrub as appropriate.

    Or you can do this.

Or have a Firekitten number done on it; she has a CYMA AK and has weathered it very well (it's also seen a lot of use which helps further). It looks the mutts nuts.
