windows movie maker error

    im getting the attached error with windows movie maker when i try to add an avi file to it
    im using the movie maker that comes with xp

    6034073

    i can play the video file fine so i would have assumed i have the right codecs. am i wrong?

    Not necessarily. If for example VLC is your default video player, it would do it without codecs. Does the file play in WMP?

    no, it does not play in wmp
    says "error downloading codec"

    i found out the file was xvid and downloaded xvid application from their website and now its working
