The final season of Breaking Bad will air in two eight-episode chunks, Entertainment Weekly reports . "We’re splitting it," says series star Bryan Cranston, who was interviewed from the set of the show's fifth season premiere in New Mexico. "We're going to shoot the first eight, then take a four-month production break, then the rest will air next year."

In some ways i'm happy with Cranston confirming that it will be divided into two and that I can enjoy it for that bit longer. But to be honest, TV has become a barren land since its been off the air and I can't wait for it's return. I tried to use The Wire to fill the gap while it was brilliant, it still didn't match the supreme quality of Breaking Bad. Here's to a drawn out sixteen episodes. :P

They're milking it. But if ever a series deserved milking this is it.

AMC has not formally announced this plan, though a representative for Sony Pictures TV has confirmed that this is "one scenario" being considered by the network. According to actors on the set, Breaking Bad is scheduled to return to the air in July. If the final season is indeed split into two sections, the second half may be held until the following summer.

According to vulture.com the first of second set of episodes (9th episode) will be directed by Cranston! Interesting..

there is also a link to the "leaked" script from season 5 here.

Apparently a fake. Some sort of a sick joke.

The most dreadful yet partially exciting news ever: Breaking Bad's previously announced sixteen-episode final season will be chopped up into two. “We’re going to shoot the first eight, then take a four-month production break, then the rest will air next year," Bryan Cranston told EW from the set in New Mexico. The news sucks because, ugh, waiting, but it's kinda good to know the suspenseful excellence will be a part of the world just a tad longer. Tentatively expect the first batch of season five to begin this July, followed by a Cranston-directed ninth episode launching the final stretch sometime in 2013. (Early 2013? Por favor?)

Can't see both Jesse and Walt living when the series concludes for some reason.

True, I never watch BB episodes back to back as need to to spread the joy.
