    Hi Guys
I have just begun to claim JSB and plan on moving abroad to teach English as a foreign language.
I want to take a four week full time CELT course before doing so, I need the qualification to learn the required skills of TEFLing and to secure a job.
The temptation to claim while taking the course is removed as the course requires near 100% attendance.
Do I have any options here to continue to claim for the four weeks legitimately?
Also does anyone know if there are any options relating to claiming tax back from the course? A friend mentioned I may be entitled to but I'm woeful at this stuff..hence being here!
Thanks in adavance for any advice!

You can contact your local Job Facilitator. They have the option to allow you to keep your claim open while doing the course. If it is expected to lead to a job and you coming off claim it is likely you will get approval.
Regarding tax relief on the course, if it is an approved course you claim back 20% of the fees in your 2012 tax return. revenue.ie should be able to give you more info on the course approval.

    That's great Sue Ellen, thanks!

I see on Welfare.ie that they can facilitate a break in payments for a course that is up to 8 weeks long and have you back on JSB pretty quickly, but I will certainly go down to them and see what they can do.

Hopefully in this case you will be able to keep your payment during this period.:)
