    Hey,
I've been offered a 1974-1976 model Buick Riviera in need of a lot of work by a friend.
I went for a look today but he has no log books and I'm not even sure what country the car is registered in.

The reg number is 'WTW 21W' The front plate is white and the rear is yellow.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cillian.

UKregistered. you would need to obtain a Cert of Export from the DVLA Swansea in order to re-register it

that reg is for a 1980/81 model appprox so probably will attract about €720 VRT and will not be NCT exempt

Sh*t, That's a pain in the ass now, it must have been sitting in a show room for a while so :(.
I knew there'd be a lot of effort in getting the car registered here but didn't expect the reg to be into the 80s

Thanks a lot for the quick response and good info though :)

VRT would be the flat rate €200 i'd say if its over 30 years old, would be €52 euro to tax as wel if you get it fixed up and through an NCT.

Info on car; off the road 15 years.

Date of Liability 01 03 1997 Date of First Registration 12 05 1981 Year of Manufacture 1975 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 7500cc CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker N Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour GREY

    TW was a Chelmsford issue.
If its older than 30 it won't have to be tested even thought the reg is '81?

you quite right about the VRT i forgot we are in 2012, i'm a few tyears missing somwewhere. Yes, over 30 years old, €200. NCT test is required though fro all post 1/1/1980 cars. Carchy has same prob as me i think

edit now Im awake. The car was probably registered in the USA from 1975 and re-regd in the UK in 1981.and if you can prove that , it will be NCT exempt.

Haha I missed that as well,(manufactured in 1975) , should probbaly go by the chassis number if re registering it to avoid confusion in case it gets registered as an 81 car.
