    Hello
I recently got a credit card and want to buy some things online eg books, dvds, clothes and maybe a genealogy website where I wouldnt receive a physical item in the post.

    3 questions I have:
    1) lets say I place an order and give my card details, and pay €100. what happens if the website charged me €200 and they claim I ordered 2 items for €100.

    2) i order and pay €100. if at a later date the website charges €50 to my card, if they say I placed another order for €50, how could I prove I didn't? especially if it wasnt a physical item.

    3) if someone else copied my card number and uses it online

Do I have any protection for this or are these very unlikely to occur?

    Thank you

You're are obviously the nervous/careful type.
Limit your risk with a prepaid card like Moneybookers, put on the amount of the item to be paid and that is as much as can be taken.

    🧐IMHO, God wants us all to ENJOY many,many ice-creams , 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦

You do the same as if you were chrged twice in a restaurant or if a shop debited the card twice. - you call the card issuer and say you didn't order / get / receive the goods.

It is up to the seller to prove you did.

They can do this by showing your transactiona nd showing your IP address. Also by confirming delivery of the goods / servcie eitehr through an email trail or other such way. IMO, the inetrnet is far safre for card transactions than regular stores once you know waht you are doing.

At all times ensure https:// is at the beginning of the payment page address in the top address bar - the "s" stands for secure and it means the site has an encrypted payment system.

But at the end of the day, If in doubt - do without
