Flemenstar is obviously the one to beat. While he smashed the Arkle field in January, Tony Martin says Gift Of Dgab under performed in the ground and the form is hard to assess. It visually was very impressive but no idea what the race was actually worth.

His latest run beating Frisco Depot has been franked but Frisco Depot hasn't really shown he is a better horse than he was that day receiving 10lbs from Flemenstar. Frisco Depot pretty much ran to his mark next time out. I'm not crabbing Flemenstar just suggesting he is not unbeatable in the conventional sense and is very short taking on an RSA 3rd in Call The Police and a horse in Rathlin who is finally showing the form that I personally thought he was capable of.

Rathlin hadn't had a tough race since he decided to race sensibly and is for the most part unexposed. There could be a lot left to come from him and the better ground today gives him every chance of showing he is a top notcher if he's good enough.

I try not to worry about jockey bookings but in the Naas race last time Russell decided to ride Bog Warrior ahead of Rathlin before the latter was withdrawn. Russell had already under estimated Bog Warrior and I doubt it was a hard decision for him to pick that one to save being embarrassed by the horse again. Ironically the horse let him down that day.

I asked Phillip Rothwell about Rathlin recently and he was very whimsical about the horse and was obviously upset that he was taken away from him and sent to Morris. He said he'd have put him in the Arkle at Cheltenham this year and he obviously thinks hes a very talented horse.

I'm confident that Rathlin has what it takes to make a race of it with Flemenstar on his current form but if Flemenstar steps up again it makes things harder. It seems neither has shown their hand yet and we could be in for an upset if Rathlin is as good as I think he is.

Call The Police had a serious race at Cheltenham so the front two are better prepared for the race so I would prefer to focus on wither of them winning personally but CTP might be well enough to make it even more interesting.

    What do you think?
