    Guys,

3DS bought at Christmas has suddenly stopped working.

Was working fine two days ago. Yesterday the battery was dead so I plugged it in to charge it. Charge light came on and when I powered it on the power light turned red but nothing happened. Screen stays blank and I have to hold the power button for a while before the power light would go off.

I let it charge fully overnight and tried it again this morning. Exact same behaviour except the power light is blue.

    Anyone got any ideas ?

That happened me a few weeks ago. Light would come on, but both screens remained black. I just tried a few more times and on the fourth or fifth attempt it powered on successfully.

I read in the manual somewhere that the battery may become dislodged from time to time. If it what I've said above doesn't work maybe try taking out the battery and putting it back in again. I know the lights shouldn't come on at all if that were the case, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks. Between last night and today I've tried it 6/7 times. I'll try the battery if I can find a screwdriver to fit it.

Happened to me too. To get it to work I held down the power button for about a minute. Don't touch it with a screwdriver. If it's faulty you can get it fixed or replaced for free.

Got it going again. Gave it a motivational 'tap'.

Be aware that you're still under warranty and I'm fairly sure unscrewing it will void that warranty. Nintendo will fix it for you for free, or may be able to get a replacement direct from the shop where you bought it.

Nintendo are okay with you replacing the battery, that won't void your warranty.
Doing anything else probably would though.

Nintendo may be ok with it, and to be honest that's pretty decent of them.

However, the shop where you bought it may not be ok with it. As long as you don't tamper with it yourself, they have to deal with you if you choose. They would have to provide either a refund/repaid/replacement.

Now, I know a lot of companies operate their own warrantee repair/replace systems but it's always handy to be able to walk into the shop where you bought it and say you'd like the problem remedied.
