Is it right the Ocean in Dunmore East has closed down?
What happenned there ? We go there when visiting and always found it a decent place.

Any idea if it will re-open before the summer?

It was actually closed by the Guards, they were trading without a licence for the last while. They stayed open for a couple of days just serving food but there was no point. Closed now for the foreseeable future. Won't be open for the summer according to an ex-employee.

Yup closed. Have a friend who was working in there. Started going downhill and then the owner didn't renew the drink licence, so it was food only, and that was even worse.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
Shame as there isn't much else in Dunmore.

Good story on this weeks Munster Express about the whole Dunmore scene. It seems the Harbourmaster is wrecking the place by kicking out all the overseas tourist boats.

Headed to Dunmore east for a stag in a few weeks. I assume there is a good bit of fun to be had in the pubs around there ya?

There are only 2 pubs really, Powers and The Strand, The Spinnaker and Azzuro are more of a restaurant type location and the Haven is a hotel. Powers is fairly quiet and The Strand gets a younger crowd on a Saturday night.

Where is good for grub? And is it rough around the place?

Personally i like The Spinnaker, The Strand can charge and Azzuro is ok. Its certainly not rough around anyway on a normal weekend. Plenty of sailing types and people that come down to they're holiday homes for the weekends. There are no late bars or night clubs so you'll have to travel into Waterford or Tramore if that’s what you’re looking for.

Nah, just looking for a few session pubs. There is a big gang of us so should be fun regardless.
