Using my S2 mobile data on laptop

I've a decent mobile data plan on my Galaxy S2 so would like to tether it so that I can use the small laptop while away to go online using the phone as a hotspot.

However, I've no idea how to do this. Can anyone give me a heads up please and thanks?

Some data plans dont allow tethering as far as I know, but I think ClockworkMod Tether would get around this. Haven't tried it though.

I would assume there is some kind of jokiuspot style software that would turn your phone into a wireless hotspot if you wanted.

I have AYCE data but a tethering ban, how does a network go about detecting a tether? It would appear to me that there'd be no way to see it but I'm not so sure now.

No idea how they can tell either, but maybe, if you can tether without problem, work away, and if you do have a problem, use one of the apps that apparently bybasses the issue.

There are no software prevention measures, but if it was detectable then I could find my credit disappearing. I've done it on o2 but never since I moved to three. I suppose if they scanned packets for the outer frame that would dictate the local IP of the client device but that seems like a lot of work to do on all traffic.

Tried this but keep getting an icon on top of screen saying "too close" or "fit".

    Can't figure it out anyways.

I'm with Vodafone running stock 2.3.5 and it works fine.
