Why is the library closed today?

I would love to know why the fcuk the library is closed today? I've a sh1t load of assignments to do and for some reason its closed? Has this something to do with the Papist ceremony of easter or something? It seems like the staff at maynooth would use any excuse for a vacation. I was at the swimming pool tuesday morning but it was closed. It said on the door that the reason for this was because it was easter but wait for this, it was opened in the afternoon?
This place is a fcuking joke, we are only five weeks from exams and they decide to close the library for 4 days straight. I hvae 2 x 2500 word assignments to do and a 5,000 word one for the end of the month. Ok, I can understand that it was closed on Friday and maybe this Monday, but its beyond comprehension that it would be closed today aswel!!
And before anyone thinks of giving me 'you should of known' bla bla cr.ap, I had an assignment to be handed in last week too so it was impossible for me to distinguish between maynooth time and REAL time and how this seems to impact on the amount of fcuking holidays the staff take in this place!!!

No, you really should have know better. The staff are entitled to holidays. You should have started you assignment when you got it.

Welcome to Ireland, I'm assuming you're not from here or you'd know that a lot of places close over Easter. The cool thing about libraries is that you can take books and stuff out and use them at home when the library is closed.

Don't forget that the library staff are actually human beings as well and deserve time off to see their families/enjoy the holidays just like everyone else.

The sense of entitlement some Maynooth students seem to have is beyond me sometimes.

oh are they? were the two weeks off at christmas not enough for them? if this was the real world, they wouldn't have so many days off, do you get me?

tbh, i did anticipate that the library would be closed at some point over the religious celebration but i didn't think it would be continuous. giving that it is easter, my workload doesn't just mysteriously vanish and then re emerge when college opens.

im perplexed by that overused stupid phrase that some people use. does it help you fit in with your peers when you use that stupid phrase; sense of entitlement or do you even know what the fcuk it means?

Christmas was over 3 months ago, it's not unreasonable for them to want some more time off and you'll find that in "the real world" a lot of places are closed all weekend.

Are you in 1st year? Cause it's like this every year.

My peers? I'm on an internet forum, I'm not looking to fit in with anyone.

    Wow.

Just wow. So it's the staff's fault for having national holidays off?

The sense of entitlement case is completely justified in this case.

What stopped you going in last week and getting the books you needed?

whine whine whine is all i hear.

There's no use crying over spilt milk, you forgot when the library would be closed but you can learn from that mistake.

If you need to work on your assigments, try the library website on off-campus login and get access to all the electronic databases and resources.

I've written good assignments before without having borrowed a physical copy of a book from the library.

ye I do agree that it's a joke that the library closes this much, or even closes as early as 7 on fridays and 5 on saturdays, not sure who makes them decisions but you can't exactly blame the staff themselves for accepting more time off.

I have a bigger problem with the restrictions placed on students and in particular post grads access to buildings which the work in, during weekdays and at the weekends and on bank holidays. I'm not exactly sure why students can't be let work away by themselves. As far as I can see it the argument is that security need to be able to lock up buildings but surely there must be an element of trust with students. If a student wants to work until all hours in the morning I dont see the problem with letting them do that. In the library you need to staff in the building so that is far enough but I dont agree with having to kick students out of their lab at 10 in the evening.

going to have to say i'm with the op on this one. i went to the registerations office yesterday to get a form stamped but it was closed. apparently its closed for the week... sure isnt it well for them? now ive to wait till next week to get it stamped cause they're off stuffin their faces with easter eggs. they had the cheek to charge me 50 quid to change a module a couple of weeks ago as though it took them away from their 'busy' work. looks like they milk the bo.ll.ox off ya in this place, take no prisoners these ones

Oh sweet Jesus. Dude, transfer to another university. Please. For your sanity and ours. You obviously don't like Maynooth. Why did you choose it? And really? The "cheek to charge you 50 quid"? I'd go on, but I'll probably get warned for ranting.

In their defence , easter eggs are savage.
