    Hi,
Due to cutbacks, I am out of work as of last Friday week. I have called into social welfare last week to get the ball rolling for my JS B/A application. Then out of the blue, I got a call yesterday from another previous employer to do one days work next week, (staff member taking day off at short notice.) I am very eager to accept the day's work, but I am wondering if it will affect my application for Jobseekers allowance/benefit? Its unlikely that there will be anymore days, this is very much a once off. I am worried that it could delay my application, etc. I can't get through to citizen's information or social welfare office on a Saturday, so any advice is welcomed.

You can take the days work just contact Social Welfare next week and tell them you worked that one day. It should not have an adverse affect on your claim. If you are on JSB you will just loose 1/6th of your weekly rate. On JSA as a one off it should just be 1/6th also but if it were to continue you would have to have an assessment carried out to determine your daily means rate. On JA what you earn per day is taken into account unlike JB. Hopefully it will turn into more permanent work. Good luck.
