Deadline for end of 1st year competence assurance is rapidly approaching

HAve been spending some time uploading documents and data to the college server

Tricky enough to hit all the areas

    Found one useful site recently
www.medicalindependent.ie (best check that or google it)

Its one of the newer medical newspapers like IMT IMN and the sadly Defunct Medicine Weekly

They have an online CPD area where you can register (no Cost) read articles and do MCQs the download certificates which could be used to upload for the various colleges online CPD portfolios

Anyone else come across any similar am trying to collate websites for CME/CPD

I thought if you were on a recognized training program, you didn't have to register?

Thanks DrZ. I'm in that boat having come home a few weeks back. Thankfully the IMC aren't making me get 50 credits by the end of the month!

I'm still trying to figure this out.
From what they sent out, it seems you don't have to have 50 credits for IMC registration renewal.
Only to declare you are on the Competence Assurance scheme with one of the colleges.
50 credits a year after that presumably?
    Can anyone clarify this.

I think what you'll effectively be declaring is that you have gained the 50 credits in the preceding year, as the scheme started a year before you have to make the declaration.

    Is that what you mean?

    Still waiting for links guys

Do you have any links for online CME

For the NCHDs out there if you dont already get the medical papers you should

You can email and get them delivered to your house or ring them and make sure they deliver to the medical res, lots of useful medical stories and even the odd competition for medical equipment

When I was an NCHD I got them all and learned a lot about the politics going o behind the clinics etc

It's not a free resource, and I haven't signed up for it, but if anyone is in the critical care areas, they might be interested in having a look at the emcrit.org site - it's a great site run by a lad called Scott Weinhart who's an ED intensvist in New York. He has recently set up a subscription based CME part to the site, as well as the free podcasts on the normal part of the site. It's a great resource and had regular contributors from all over the world. It's not accredited yet but I think he's hoping to achieve some sort of accreditation in the US. Whether it could work towards your credits here, I don't know.
