Seiko SKX007 ... some questions

Ok, first time poster in the watches forum here, and I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm thinking of getting a Seiko SKX007 over the next couple of weeks.

    A few questions;
    1. Are these as good as everyone says?
    2. Where is the best place to buy?
    3. Should I be looking at alternatives?

Any other advice for a newbie appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

I got one about a year ago from TZ-UK - a sandblasted case that makes the case a smooth metallic gray rather than shiny steel. Looks great.

    1. They are a great watch for what you pay. They don't hack or handwind, which is bad, but the quality of what you do get is very good. The movement is fairly bullet proof I believe (except the balance spring occasionally gets 'hung up' - easily fixed with a few firm taps).

    2. Probably Creation Watches or another company who will ship from Asia.

    3. Always, always look at alternatives! But I don't know of any similar quality/price offering.

You will likely want to consider an aftermarket bracelet if you get one. The Super Oyster II is popular choice although go for solid end links.

I was considering buying a 007 for quite some time, even though the cost is very small, however I've decided to forego it and wait to buy a Steinhart vintage instead.

From everything I've read about the 007, they're absolutely fantastic watches and particularly for the price.

Creation watches for new and some forums for second hand but you can get them so cheap I'd be buying new.

Also check out the Orient Mako. Sparrowcar has one and it's a lovely watch.

I got my 007 from this place. Great customer service from the owner.

Is there any where in Dublin that sells these?

Would like to have a look at it in the flesh.

Owned one in the past fitted with the super oyster bracelet. I think pound for pound the best watch you can buy

Have a Super Oyster on mine but it only has rolled ends and now rattles like a charm bracelet. Pretty disappointmented with that bit. Great otherwise. Get solid end links.
