Did anyone watch this great documentary the other night? Its about Arlington house, an Irish men's hostel in London. It really well captured some of the colourful characters that inhabit these places but a lot of it very sad also. The old guy singing the song at the end made me shed a tear. Its on the RTE player. Worth watching.

    Yep, it was heartbreaking.

So many of the men had no families to return to.

Peter Doyle still lives there. Over 50 years. he visits some relatives here with the help of the aisling charity.
He seems such a good soul, when he said his new bigger room had too much space, it was heart wrenching.

I think the government should help accommodate these men if they want to return home but of course that's easier said than done.

    .

Id say many have nothing to come over here to, their whole lives are in London. Peter's room did seem too large as he seems to have very little possessions. The programme was very sad, but them men did seem happy enough with their lives.

    It was very good.

Shame how honest, hard working Irishmen, like the three featured are and continue to be abandoned by our gombeen class.
