    Hi

Should the fireplace & hearth go in before or after the wooden floor in a new sitting?

Flue first, then hearth, then fire, then floor.

    Hi Voodoo.
Put the hearth first, fireplace next, then floor.
Get the thickness of your flooring + underlay+ 3mm. put in the concrete base to fix the hearth, leaving the concrete about 30mm shorter at front and sides of hearth. this will allow you to let the flooring slip under the hearth and leave a nice professional finish. for expansion purposes leave at least 15mm between concrete under hearth and flooring.
