Have just purchased a ferguson fe 35(gold belly). But the bonnet, wings and diesel tank are red. I thought they should be all grey or is this a particular model?

I haven't got it with me at the moment, but I think there is an article in this weeks farmers journal that has a picture of a copper belly and some interesting reading.

The Ferguson Fe 35 should have the gold skid unit and grey tinwork. The Massey Ferguson 35 was a replacement for it,although I believe both were built for a time and it had the grey skid unit and red tinwork.

Its Possible that someone had changed the Massey tinwork onto yours as they were essentially the same tractor or vice versa.

The Massey Ferguson 135 replaced the massey 35

Whoo, I have to rest now after that:p

You have an old 35 and one that is a bit rarer than normal, but aren't going to made rich out it either!

Don't do much to it than you have to untill you find out its correct colouring. There was a great artice in one of the vintage magazines a while back, I'll dig it out and see if I can scan it. it does mention the colour scheme.

Is it three or four cyclinder, can you get the seriel number from the plate near the key switch? This will give you a number you can date the machine from. I have an old 35x that is one of the first 35x produced with the sidelights sticking out.

The gold belly was only made in 4 cylinder diesel 23c standard engine or 87 mm petrol and tvo also 4 cylinder and were manufactured from 1956 to 1957 under the Ferguson name and from 1958 on under the Massey Ferguson brand after Massey Harris and Ferguson joined forces the 35 x which was introduced in 1962 as a replacement for the 4 cylinder diesel was only made in red and grey as standard the petrol and tvo tractors continued under the Massey Ferguson name and were even available in the 135 version so it would be possible to see a tvo 35 in either red and grey or grey and gold

Been doing some digging on the net and came up with a possibility. When Massey Harris joined forces with ferguson the tin work on the remaining fe-35's were painted red instead of ferguson grey but the gold skid unit remained?
As for the identification plate it is no longer on the tractor unfortunately. I have checked the engine no. And it is from an fe-35. There is an old log book with it that matches the registration plate but the chassis no. Is from a tef 20! Last owner had it for 32 years and never noticed.

Hi just bought a 1956 Ferguson 20 TEF tractor to restore and looking for a Ki-gas pump and other bits I am new to this site. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi rooferdude, A lot of TEF parts can be bought new from suppliers like Matt Buckley in Mullingar. Panels, pipes, wheels, etc. Most under the brand QTP which I think he's involved in. Local farm machinery place should be able to order them either. As for the Ki-Gass components, they have never been re-manufactured so are very hard to find. Took me 9 months to get the pump, tank, and auxiliary diesel tank, then had to make my own pipes. eBay is always worth watching, but also go to vintage shows with auto jumble.
Where are you located, now that I think of it there's a chap in Kildare worth talking to, I'll pm you his details if you like
