Toshiba Satellite not charging

Have a Satellite L500-19x. A few weeks ago the power cable gave up and I got a Hahnel powercable as a replacement. This worked fine for a few weeks but now I noticed that it is not charging the battery. The icon says the battery is at 29%, plugged in but not charging, however if the powercable is removed fron the laptop it shuts down. Also the laptop will not swich on if the powercable is not plugged in. Any suggestions feedback? I'm thinking I might need a Tosh powercable and was looking at laptopchargers.ie Could there be something else wrong ?

Hahnel powercable is the right voltage

It's not unheard of that a laptop battery died after 2-3 years if it is kept in the laptop permanently. Heat is the battery killer number one and cheap Li-Ion batteries have a very limited number of charge/discharge cycles.

The battery is most likely finished. This may have been caused by using a non-OEM charger... but it probably would have happened after a few years anyway.

I would replace both the battery and the charger with originals.

Thank you for taking the time to reply

A friend with the same laptop dropped over their charger and it is no better. Would seem to be the battery
