All of the above makes sense, but the Transfer ID that PayPal generates is 15 characters and the "message to appear on reciver statement" on the AIB dialog only accepts 12 characters. Have others encountered this problem and how did they get around it?
    :(

The "Message to appear on receiver statement:" box accepts up to 18 characters. Did you try manually typing it in?

It really doesnt matter what you put as a transfer id.

Carne, many thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I manually typed it in at Step 2 and Step 3 and each time it refused to allow any character after the 15th. Any chance this could be a recent new restriction by AIB?

Bengalover, why do you say that? When I tried without a TID, PayPal couldn't trace it (I asked them to) and it was returned to my AIB account 10 days later.

dont you put your account number on the receiver statement?
so the reciever can track who the payment is from?

The transfer ID is the only thing that matters when setting up a transfer to Paypal. If AIB doesn't accept it, then you need to contact them to find out how you can enter it. Without setting up the transfer ID correctly, your money will not arrive in your Paypal account.

Do you happen to know how much AIB charge for such a transfer to PayPal?

    Thanks,

    Adam.

I pointed this out a while back. AIB have been doing this since at least Summer 2012, drove me nuts because the machine never looked like it was refusing the last two digits.

I was delivered verbal tat by an AIB customer desk staff member: 'We don't advise anyone to deal with PayPal', absolute negative baloney. Repeated more than once, along with a few other gems of wisdom..

Here's my thread from November 2012.

AIB > Transfer to PayPal > 13 character kiosk limit
