Wooden Floor Sanding

Looking for some opinions on wooden floor sanding costs. I have solid wood in my kitchen, hall and sitting room, all of which is a bit worse for wear. I got a quote to sand it, 52 sq yards for 2,640 euro, 3 costs WBL (whatever that is). Seems a bit high to me, i don't think i paid that much to buy it (i fitted myself). Anybody else got this done, if so how much, or if anyone is in the business i can call you.

    Thanks, Mark.

    WBL (Water based lacquer)...

You could do it yourself, think you can get one of those big square sanders at a hire shop, they charge you per sheet used.

The lacquer is roughly 60/70 euro a gallon, cutting in the edges and using a roller ( 9"" mohair) to coat the rest of floors....

I am new to boards I only registered because of the information I got here. I looked up a good sander at a reasonable price and got the name and number of a man called Dave Barnes. He left my house yesterday after sanding and varnishing my sitting room and porch. I had been quoted a price by another sander that was 300 hundred euro more expensive than what Dave charged me. I could not recommend him enough. He was efficient, professional, trustworthy, clean and he did a fantastic job. His number is 0862938658! Good luck:)

I second Sinead's post, I am an information lurker of the site. I too followed the advice here and on other forums and Dave Barnes recently sanded my Kitchen and Dining room floors, he repaired small areas required, was neat and clean, friendly and efficient. The price was also brilliant. I would definitely recommend - 086 293 8658. He is based in Dun Laoghaire.

I was going give this a try on a floor in my sitting room. It has always been covered in carpet. I've pull up the carpet and I noticed I can feel a draught coming through the gaps in the floorboards. Is there anything you can use to fill these gaps before you varnish??
