    Week 12:

    2009 NFC Wild Card Playoff
    a.k.a "The Record Breaker"

On December 30th 1995, the Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Detroit Lions 58-37 in the NFC Wild Card Playoffs, setting a new NFL record for the highest scoring post-season game with 95 points. Just think about that - 95 points.

On January 10th 2010, that record was broken. So were many others. Most touchdowns in a playoff game. Most first downs in a playoff game. Most consecutive plays without needing a third down. And so on...

We now know that this was made possible because it was a clash featuring two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Kurt Warner was a shoe-in, an although we didn't know for sure at the time, we now know that Aaron Rodgers will be too.

As much as we love a gritty, stubborn, ground-and-pound defensive showdown, sometimes we just need a clash of the Quarterback titans to make it rain touchdowns.

Well, Warner and Rodgers combined to unleash the most torrential downpour the NFL Playoffs has ever seen. Enjoy.

Note: As it's Easter weekend and we all probably have a bit more time to kill, I hope to have another game up this weekend. Possibly even two more (one of them has been VERY difficult to get, and I hope to have my hands on it this evening after literally looking for it for years!).

Great game. The most unexpected finish too considering all that went on throughout the game.

Probably my favourite game i ever watched as a neutral, and my favourite playoff game too for that matter. Nicely done

It's important that on this weekend of all weekends, we remember exactly what we are celebrating. Christ died for our sins, and three days later he rose from the dead.

The problem is, Christ only did it once. And while that is impressive, it pales in comparison to Brett Favre who went away and came back again....twice. And we're not ruling out a hat-trick. Given that, it's only right that the first ever bonus Cam's Classic features one of ol' gunslinger's finest moments - a classic Brett Favre finish.

You've just signed Brett Favre to be your team's quarterback. It's your first home game of the season. But you're down by 4 points and need a late touchdown to win - the fairytale hasn't quite gone according to plan. Or has it?

Remember, this is Brett Favre. He's not surgical, he's not cerebral. He only has 89 seconds left, and he has to drive the ball 80 yards. He's 40 years old, and if he somehow manages to pull off the miracle, it would be the 40th come-from-behind game winning drive of his career.

This is EXACTLY how a Brett Favre fairytale should be written. When asked what he was thinking as Favre took to the field for that last drive, Jared Allen summed it all up.

"Be Brett. One time. Just be Brett...."

Just finished watching this. Wow, what a game that was. Don't really want to say too much about the game as I'm sure others will want to watch it for themselves, but as Santry says the end is completely unexpected. Really enjoyed it.

Will watch the bonus game tomorrow. Thanks Cam!

  • i was already after forgetting just how hard farve threw the ball and at 40 years old with all them games behind that is one warrior of an arm
