Ride with them when you can and ideally not with others. One lad on here I know spent most of his solo riding on the bars. Made him quicker from A to B and crucially confident to use them in many conditions. Remember its a bit of a no-no to ride with bars in a group. Do all that then you can go TT!

I'm no expert - just got mine last week. And after an easy week (read no cycling) I spent an hour on the turbo yesterday with the newly arrived bars just trying to get used to the position and my breathing while increasing the power. Tough sh!t. Different sensations.

Out today but no bars. If its not too bad as forecasted tomorrow, I'll try to get out on them. Now back to the golf!:)

Yep. I fitted auxiliary brake levers so I'm happy to use them while commuting. I use them extensively on solo spins (as armchair with aero benefits) and they're great for chasing down groups after I get dropped on climbs. You lean rather than steer so sharp turns aren't really possible; I'll use them descending but not on a fast, unfamiliar road.

Not thought about these yet - might get some as I'm always out on my own but should maybe wait until I've lost a bit more of my belly so they aren't too uncomfortable

Get the bars. The belly will follow (or not) in its own time...

    nice one.
so decends is when you mainly drop onto them

I use them pretty much any time. On the flat, descents, sometimes when climbing but only for shallow climbs as there's less aero benefit when moving slowly.

    Someone has to say it...

Descending fast on aerobars is likely to kill you.

If you're descending slowly then you don't need to use them.

This is the only acceptable way of riding your bike fast.

I don't think Lumen is taking issue with your posts, but rather the OP's reading of them. I know what you're driving at and that you have brake levers on your aerobars.

Drop bars are also excellent for going downhill.
