Dublin City Council announced new bye laws which will open up a significant amount of casual trading pitches across the city. Permits will be given to sell tea / coffee in busy areas like the IFSC, Sandymount beach, etc, art on the Boardwalk and jewellery also.

Some permits also include selling flowers on Grafton St- a very lucrative trade given the footfall and profit margins and the cost of the permit- a bargain €2k per year. After that all you need is a stall, transport and some hard work and you're in business.

Permits are by lottery, the main restriction is that the permit holder must be the person staffing the stall at all times unless sick or on holiday so no chance to employ someone a few days and do other things yourself.
