Snake, rats, nice, rabbits... all sorts of fun to be had now. Personally I'd go for rats., but if you're female I can lend you my anaconda for a few hours.

It's easter so we have to go with Bunny Rabbits!

An elephant but just make sure you don't let it up on to the kitchen table because it could leave footprints on the butter.

If anything that's an even better pet, no cages to clean!

I know you dismissed cats but cats are pretty low maintenance, not a huge responsibility like dogs, extremely clean, provided you have an outdoor area this is a good option. Yes they will require more attention at first presuming youre getting a kitten, would be best to get it when you had some time off work. Still a better option than keeping caged animals or tropical animals in your house.

I just read through it thinking that API had gone bonkers.:D

If it has to be small & furry then definitely a rat. Rabbits need plenty of space & lots of interaction. An Axolotl is perfect if you don't want something to cuddle !

I say to man in shop "Is rat." He say "No, no, no. Is a special kind of hamster. Is filigree Siberian hamster." Only one in shop. He make special price: only five pound.

It all depends, I would say.

Some landlords allow cats and dogs, with some of them asking for a pet insurance, which has a Third Party Liability.

Anyway, I'm renting a house, I have two bunnies in the garden and a cat, which comes and goes whenever he wants to ;)

Rats are great small pets, not smelly so long as you clean them every couple of days (will toilet in one area if its kept clean), are very affectionate, playful and have very funny personalities.
They will sleep a good bit and love to come out in the evenings. Cheap to keep too.

I can absolutely confirm that, had rats myself when I was living in Germany.

Just some rules to follow: Always keep more than one, but of the same gender. And be aware that they tend to nibble cables, which is a dangerous hazard.
