Carroll goal watch; how many will he end up with this season?

He's already on 6 goals from 38 appearances (1 in his last 11) which is just 57 goals off the all-time season record (Europe's top leagues). Everton's Dixie Dean: 63 in 1927-28.

There's definitely another 8 games left for Liverpool and probably a 9th as long as Everton are overcome in the FA Cup semi.

Will he break the 70 goal barrier?

You were trying to think of a player to mock, and Carroll DIDN'T come into your head?

    WTF???

Him and Torres should have a joined thread, like a Tag Team.
They may reach double figures in the league if combined !!!
    Currently at 6 (3 each)

Roy Carroll would be likely to score more goals.

What teams did his previous goals come against?

1 against each of the following behemoths.

    Brighton
    Wolves
    Oldham
    West Brom
    Everton
    Exeter

I think I need to go lay down and have a little cry...

Just thinking he is a little bit like Jesus:-

    - the hair.
    - has a cross to carry.
    - keeps falling over.
    - people use his name when they are annoyed.

    Probably some that am forgetting.

Well, if Fowler was having his wicked way with some Geordie young wans when he was around 13, there's a slight chance Carroll could be the son of God... though it's unlikely. If he was, his finishing would be better...

If ever there was an example of why we're so ****e this season, it's gotta be carroll.
A waste of space if ever there was one.
I said it from the start but not one of my fellow 'pool fans would listen.
Our club needs to rebuild from the start.
That includes retiring carragher, selling gerrard and dumping carroll and the likes.
    It's the only way!
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'm a red.
Even if we win two cups this season it means nothing.

I see comments like this quite often, and they rarely make sense. There was huge skepticism over the Carroll deal right from the get go from all quarters.

Management obviously agrees with regard to a clear-out, considering the clearout they did last summer. It's unfortunate that some bad decisions were made on their replacements however.
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'm a red.
Don't really know what to say to something like this...only adds weight to that horrible stereotype other fans always have of Liverpool fans and our supposed "sense of entitlement".
Even if we win two cups this season it means nothing.
It's a disappointing season, but players have 2 primary objectives for their careers - Earn obscene amounts of money and Win things.
Trophy's DO make a difference when attracting players, as well as keeping those you have satisfied. Reina finally getting something to match the FA cup he won is his first year, for instance, might appease him into giving the project more time.

Also, there's nothing like a cup final day out for fans. I guarantee in years to come, these Wembley games are going to be amongst the only games fans really remember from this season.

Success in any form will always 'mean something'.

Half of that squad aren't fit to wear the 'pool colours and that's just a fact, as rafa would have said.
True, it's nice to win trophy's but I reckon we'd give them all away, including the 05 champions league, for a league title.

I don't mean to pick on you here, I really don't, but thats just Dunphy-esque nonsense.

People are comparing the current side to ones from the past, both recent and the great sides of the 80s. The hard truth is that Liverpool today is not the same club, and has no right to look back and compare in that way. This misty eyed comparing, saying that players now aren't "Liverpool" standard just doesn't hold any water for me.

We've consistently finished in poor league positions for the past few years, and comparing our squad to Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs, you can see that we are definitely 6th best there, and have been for quite some time now. You could argue that we are actually joint 6th with NUFC, but I want to see if they can replicate this seasons form next year before passing judgement on them tbh. The league simply doesn't lie, and we just haven't been up to scratch there for a while now.

It's time to stop looking back all the time, and start looking forward.

    I'm not depressed about things?

I'm just realistic tbh but also hopeful for the future.

Des made a point before about Utd, and at some stage they will slip, and that we should be working flat out to make sure that we are in a position to capitalise on that.

I would totally agree with that, and say that we should be making sure that we are in a position to take advantage of any slips from any of the sides that are really a step above us. We could have had that chance this year really, Chelsea and Arsenal have not had good seasons (in the league), we could have taken advantage, we didn't. They were always going to find some form though and no we find ourselves in the position we are in now.

I specifically compared out squad to that of Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. That makes us sixth out of that bunch.

If you add NUFC to the comparision, then I said that you could argue that we are level with them.

The reason I picked those sides, is because, these sides are our competition for 4th spot and are the sides that we all use as a yardstick to measure against.

Why would you add Newcastle who are above you and not Everton who are also above you. And the only reason Newcastle are above you is because you gave them 35m for a donkey which they spent very wisely on Cisse, Ba, Cabaye etc and still made a profit.

    HA, excellent thread -

judging by his stats goal/game record, he's set to score 1 goal, though looking at the teams left and the type of team he scores against he could at a push finish with 2 more goals.

If i was a betting man I'd put a ten pence on 2 more goals.

I laughed when I read this thread :D (and im a liverpool fan)

    Its funny because its true.

To be honest, I dont think Carroll will ever make it at a big club for two reasons.

    1)His complete lack of a first touch/technique

    2)Attitude.
