Will the Rock be back?

Was looking for a thread on this but wasn't having much luck.

I don't know about anyone else but I sort of assumed the Rock v Cena feud was going to go to another few matches. Perhaps one at Summerslam and maybe the 3rd and final match at next years Mania. However after Raw last Monday, it seems like that feud is over and done with.

I know the Rock talked about being WWE champion again. Any news or rumours to when he will be back? I heard he might be back for WM29 but I think that might just be a rumour.

    My guess...

Rock returns at the Rumble and wins, setting up a match with whoever is champion at that time. I'd presume that's Cena as well, setting up a return match.

I was actually just reading an article of WrestleZone. They said the tentative plans for next year were:

    The Rock v Brock Lesnar

    CM Punk v Austin

    Cena v Undertaker

Rumor is Rock signed another one year contract with the WWE this week.

looked a bit rusty at mania but would love to see him back. Will do a few more promos for a while i think, with cena going to feud with Brock.
cant see taker doing another mania tbh and defo not v cena, they/he wouldnt want to lose 2 in a row in the show case event, but good call on rock winning the rumble, setting me up nicely for mania in NY next year

Too late he lost last year against the Miz and then this year against the rock

Wins and losses means nothing anyway. HHH lost at 20, 21, 22, 24, (and wasn't there for 23, so that's four in a row), but no one would consider him any less a top guy because of that....

Exactly. Stars are made week in week out on tv when everyone is watching. PPVs are just a bonus really but it's all about who is in the main events rather than who wins them.

Agreed. Also gotta point out "Mr WrestleMania" HBK has jobbed more times at Mania than anyone in history and is doing alright for himself! (8 times!)

Wins & Losses - I'd say that it depends on the star; like if a star is already over and a veteran (Cena, Orton, Big Show, Kane etc); then wins and losses truly don't matter since they'll be just as over regardless. Like Kane is no more over for beating Orton at Mania, and Orton's no worse off.

W&L DO matter it's when new guys are trying to move up the card; like when Orton lost to Mark Henry clean on PPV last year - that REALLY helped Mark Henry, but didn't affect Orton. Conversely in 2009, when Orton jobbed out Kofi Kingston during his "i'm turning serious" push, it REALLY killed Kofi. He's never recovered.

Most matches on RAW/SD are screwy singles finishes and tag matches which don't matter.

Also if a match is brilliant, neither man looks weak - eg Taker/HHH or Jericho/Punk. Jericho tapped clean but since it was great he easily got his heat back on RAW and we're up for another PPV match.

So in the end imo, very few matches where wins & losses happen matter.

Couldn't see them turning Punk heel so soon after gettting him over as a legit main event face,so doubt Punk/Austin will happen at next Mania.

Interestingly enough they seem to be having the odd jab at each other on Twitter. Don't know if it's a joke or the seeds of a possible feud down the line.

I say it will be difficult to have 3 marquee names at next years Mania if we are going to presume Rock and Brock are on the card, too many egos. I'd imagine a potential Austin, Punk bout if it happens will be left for WM 30.

Add in the also rumoured Triple H vs Shawn Michaels, and the card on paper already looks better than this years by a country mile.

Ah heck this is just all rumours, no point investing too much expectations at this stage. I dare someone to start a Wrestlemania 29 thread though, i'll add Chris Jericho vs Randy Orton and Edge vs Christian to my wish list. :o

I heard there were rumours of HBK coming back for a match and you'd swear that's what they were teasing with the whole angle between HBK and HHH this year.

I can't see Undertaker v Cena happening. No rivalry there to build on. Lesnar v Undertaker though that could happen. May be as a MMA style cage match.

I think the thing about Cena v Undertaker is that it's one of the few big matches left that WWE haven't really done. They might have done something on SD a few years ago after Cena arrived but not since as far as I know.

Undertaker gave Cena his respect when he debuted, Cena threw it back at him when he turned heel. Not a lot to go on so I doubt it'll even be brought up. Instead, they could go with someone saying Cena chokes on the big stage following two WM losses in a row (add in a few other conviently selected losses too). He beats whoever it is at Elimination Chamber before looking to prove the myth wrong by taking on Undertaker for the streak. That, plus the fact that it's John Cena, would already have a lot of people wondering if it's the end of the streak.

Alternativly, he could win the Rumble and choose Undertaker instead of a title match.

The Undertaker is one of the easiest WM feuds to book.

Another rumor is The Rock vs. CM Punk for the title at SummerSlam!!

He's filming like a gazillion movies this year. Which means that (thankfully) we won't be enduring many more of his HORRIBLE out-of-touch half-hour promos. I would love to watch the Rock wrestle full time rather than watching Dwayne Johnson get coached in wrestling live at Wrestlemania to pick up a completely undeserved victory.
