Small wedding venue ideas?

    Hi,

We are currently looking at wedding venues but are having major problems deciding on one. We are having 60 people to the sit down meal and then 60 more (total of 120) to the evening meal. We are both from county Armagh and are having the bigger evening party to keep everyone happy (if it was just small we could have it anywhere). So we need a place where people don't have to travel for more than an hour (as realistically most will only be coming to evening reception).

So has anyone any ideas that meet this? We have looked at (and fell in love with) Castle Leslie but it is so expensive. We have also considered Darver castle, but I am seeing quite negative reviews about it (bar not in room, kitchen as welcome drink etc..). We have also realised that we are not meeting any of the deals offered by venues as minimum numbers are usually 100.

Please help me as this is really starting to stress me out and seriously considering eloping lol x

I quite like Darver and those negatives aren't that bad really but seeing as you have considered that area its worth looking at Glebe house which is very near Darver and is a nice small intimate venue that would perfectly suit your numbers in my opinion. Their website isnt the best so I would recommend a visit.

What about Ghan House in Carlingford? I have heard great reviews on it for weddings. It would be a lovely place for pictures too.

Somewhere else that might be of interest to you might be Narrow Water Castle on the Warrenpoint road. I looked at it for my own wedding (I got married in Italy in the end). It wasn't what I was looking for but I have heard good reports on it from other people who got married here. The castle is impressive from outside but a little too old for me inside.
